Non-Custodial On-Chain Escrow for ASIC Miner Purchases Is Now Live

Non-Custodial On-Chain Escrow for ASIC Miner Purchases Is Now Live

The hardest part of buying a mining rig with crypto has never been the price. It is the moment you send funds to someone you have never met, in a country you have never visited, and then wait.

Today The Miner Island is removing that moment from the deal. Any order above $5,000 can now settle through non-custodial on-chain escrow, enforced by code on Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana.

What non-custodial on-chain escrow actually means

Non-custodial means we never hold your money. Not for an hour, not overnight, and not in a company wallet.

When a qualifying order is placed, the funds go into an escrow the seller does not control. We cannot move them. The code holds one rule and executes it. There is no account for us to freeze your balance in, no withdrawal to approve, and no support ticket required to get your funds back.

The difference between this and a custodial escrow is the same as the difference between a bank vault and a key you hold. With custodial escrow, a company sits in the middle and decides. Here, nothing decides. The contract does one thing on a schedule.

The problem it solves

Crypto payments are final. That is a feature until it is not.

Anyone who has bought mining hardware in the last three years has seen the same failure modes. Stock photos of racks that were never owned. A Telegram handle with no entity behind it. A preorder that takes payment in March and delivers in November. A seller who answers instantly until the moment the confirmation lands, and then stops answering at all.

The structural problem is that the buyer carries all of the risk and holds none of the leverage. You are asked to wire, or send USDT, or transfer BTC, to a stranger, on a promise.

Escrow flips the sequence. The funds exist and are committed, which the seller can see and rely on. But they are not in the seller's hands until the hold period ends.

Escrow on a $5,000 order, not just six-figure deals

Escrow in crypto is usually reserved for whale trades. A $5,000 buyer is told to send first and hope, because setting up escrow costs more effort than the order is worth.

That is not our position. Any order above $5,000 settles the same way a $300,000 order does, on the same contracts, with the same 20 day hold and the same refund rule. The minimum is $5,000. There is no separate process, no waiting list, and no application.

How The Miner Island On-Chain Escrow works

Four rules, and nothing else runs in the contract. This applies to any order above $5,000.

  1. Quote and verification. We confirm the order, the entity, and the settlement network, and confirm the same entity is buying and paying.
  2. Funding. You send BTC, ETH, SOL, USDT or USDC into the escrow for that specific trade. The address is unique to the order.
  3. Twenty day hold. The funds sit there. The Miner Island cannot touch them. Neither can the buyer.
  4. Settlement. After 20 days the contract releases the full amount to the seller. The release is permissionless, meaning anyone can trigger it and the destination is fixed by code.

And one exit.

If you open a dispute before the hold ends, the contract returns the full amount to you automatically 7 days later. No negotiation, no support queue, no approval from us.

Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana, covered

Escrow on these networks does not work the same way, because the networks are not built the same way.

Bitcoin. BTC does not run contracts. There is no program to deploy and no state to mutate. Bitcoin escrow is a spending script, typically a 2-of-3 multisig with a timelock branch, where the script defines who can move the coins and when. Same result, different mechanism.

Ethereum. ETH, USDT (ERC-20) and USDC settle through a smart contract with a readable state machine. Every step is visible on-chain before and after it happens.

Solana. SOL, USDT (SPL) and USDC (SPL) settle through a program with dedicated escrow accounts, so each trade is isolated and independently auditable.

One thing worth knowing: USDT and USDC are the same ticker on many different networks. USDT on TRON is not USDT on Ethereum and they are not interchangeable. We confirm the settlement network with you at quote, before anything moves.

What the contract can and cannot do

Most escrow marketing oversells what code can enforce. Here is the honest version.

It can:

  • Hold funds in a place the seller cannot reach
  • Release to the seller automatically after the hold period
  • Refund the buyer automatically after a dispute
  • Prove to both sides, on a public ledger, that the funds exist

It cannot:

  • Confirm that a shipment happened
  • Judge whether a machine is the condition it was described as
  • Reverse a release after the deadline has passed

Escrow is a payment mechanism with hard rules, not a courtroom. It removes the risk that you pay and nothing arrives. Condition disputes and warranty claims are handled separately, in writing, before the order is placed.

Why we built this instead of renting one

Renting an escrow service puts a third company back into the middle of the trade. That company needs to be onboarded, needs KYC on both sides, can freeze funds, and adds a fee. It also becomes a single point of failure for both parties.

Non-custodial escrow does the opposite. It removes participants. There are three things in the room: the buyer, the seller, and the code.

We also published this term before we built it. On-chain escrow is part of our standard order terms for qualifying orders, and it now runs on our own contracts rather than a vendor's.

Frequently asked questions

Is on-chain escrow safe?
The mechanism is as safe as the contract. The funds cannot be moved by either party outside the rules, and every state change is public. The residual risk is the contract's code, which is why this is deployed on audited patterns with standard libraries rather than bespoke logic.

What happens if the seller never ships?
Open a dispute before the hold period ends and the full amount returns to you 7 days later, automatically. Once the hold ends and the funds release, the contract has completed and cannot be reversed.

Can The Miner Island move my funds?
No. The escrow is non-custodial. There is no withdrawal path for us, and no key of ours that unlocks your deposit.

Can I cancel for any reason?
You can open a dispute before the hold ends. The funds return to you 7 days after the dispute is opened.

Which assets can be escrowed?
Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, plus USDT and USDC on supported networks. Confirm the settlement network at quote.

Do I need a wallet, or can I send from an exchange?
You need to send from a wallet you control, so you can sign the release or dispute transaction. Sending directly from an exchange account usually will not work, because you do not hold the key.

What is the minimum order for escrow?
$5,000. Every order above that amount can settle through escrow.

Is escrow available on every order?
Yes, above the $5,000 minimum. Confirm the settlement network with us at quote.

Do you offer this escrow to third parties?
No. This escrow exists to settle The Miner Island's own orders. It is not offered as a standalone escrow service for other people's trades.
